Jamie Sutta

Jamie Sutta is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vocal Youth Miami, a nonprofit organization that empowers young people through vocal music experiences that build connection, confidence, artistry and leadership. A music educator, artist and nonprofit leader, Jamie believes that singing together can transform how young people see themselves, one another and the world around them.

Music was a source of purpose and possibility in Jamie’s own life. After earning a full scholarship to Florida State University, she received her bachelor’s degree in Choral Music Education and began her teaching career in 2003. At Ocoee Middle School, she developed a choral program centered on both personal and musical growth. Under her direction, four ensembles consistently earned Superior ratings at Florida Vocal Association Music Performance Assessments. A music video she created with her students was later featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

In 2011, Jamie founded Vocal Youth Miami, formerly The Children’s Voice Chorus, with 21 singers, donated rehearsal space and $10,000 in community support. What began as a neighborhood chorus has grown into a countywide organization serving young people through community ensembles, school programs, songwriting and artist development, early childhood music and transformative performance opportunities.

Under Jamie’s leadership, Vocal Youth Miami students have performed at Carnegie Hall and Super Bowl LIV, collaborated with artists including Enrique Iglesias and Julian Marley, and created original music inspired by their own voices and experiences. In 2025, Vocal Youth Miami was recognized by the Florida Music Educators Association as an Exemplary Model Music Program.

Jamie also holds a master’s degree in Vocal Jazz Performance from the University of Miami. As a professional vocalist, she performed nationally and internationally and shared the stage with artists including Ellis Marsalis, Billy Taylor, Tierney Sutton and Maria Conchita Alonso. Her experiences as an educator and performer continue to shape the artistic excellence, joy and sense of possibility she brings to her leadership.

At the heart of Jamie’s work is a belief that every young person deserves to be heard. She is committed to creating opportunities for youth to discover their voices, develop as artists and leaders, and experience the power of making music together.
